Charlie Villanueva and Alopecia Areata
November 4th, 2005
Following on from my post about celebrity role models and alopecia. Its great to see people suffering from alopecia reaching the top of their game, and in this case literally! Charlie villanueva has reached incredible heights on both the american college circuit and now the NBA! He currently plays for the Toronto Raptors having recently moved the Connecticut Huskies and it seems like there’s no stopping him.
Villanueva had has to deal with Alopecia at a very early age and was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata and at the age of 13 so he knows all about the social and pyschological impact the disease can have on you as a teenager.
He is now the National Alopecia Areata Foundation spokesperson through his Charlies Angels and is a great role model for kids with alopecia especially. Seeing how Charlie has excelled in his field gives us all fantastic inspiration!
