Inspired Alopecia story from a brave young lad called Kris

November 20th, 2005

I was doing a bit of Alopecia research today and found the bbc website to be quite helpful. I was particularly impressed by the “Home Truths” section which contained a couple of stories about people living with alopecia.
What I found really touching was the story of a young 11 year old lad called kris in Aberdeen. His story echoed my experiences as a child with Alopecia and having to deal with bullying as a result of standing out from the crowd. Admitedly, schools are getting much better at dealing with bullying in general but it still happens as we all know and a lot Kris’ ability to cope is down to his fiesty personality and positive attitude. He’s a real inspiration!

Kris and his parents, Wendy and Ian, explain how the condition runs in Ian’s family and how in Kris’ case it manifested itself unusually early. It’s an audio item and well worth listening to especially if your a child with Alopecia.

Listen to Kris’ alopecia story here and his you may also find his website interesting too.
